A Funny old week

Hello Blogville it's your one and only Gossip Bunny with all the latest from my neck of the woods. You know this week has been a funny old week going from chilly stormy weather to warm humid showery to warm humid dry days and then back to cooler wet and showery days. Now supposedly it is forecast to get better for a few days this coming week but that keeps changing from a nice whole week to just half a week and going back to rain by the end of the week, so we will see how that plays out.

Little Louie went to the vets this week to get his right eye checked as it didn't look normal. The long and the short of it is that when he was found the eye must have been injured and then with the mange and fly strike it has been permanently damaged and he is completely bling in that eye as for his left eye well that one looks normal but Hedgehogs can't see that well. Basically they are very short sighted and rely mainly on their sense of smell and hearing. but They are nocturnal so they do need to see the difference between daylight and nighttime so that they aren't out during the day when they are vulnerable to birds, cars and other dangers. Little Louie keeps coming out in the day and not much at night so he has been in the greenhouse for the last couple of days to try and get him to switch to being active at night and sleeping during the day so far that isn't happening. And he's had to learn the lay out of the greenhouse and was bumping into things because of his impaired vision. So now he is running about all day from when it gets light to about 8.30pm in the evening before going to bed which is not good. But its only been a couple of days so Mummy said we have to give him more time to adjust but if he doesn't adjust we may not be able to release him fully to the wild and that he may have to stay in the back garden or we find someone who has a safe enclosed garden to live in. But for now it is a waiting game to see if he adjust back to a normal pattern...so keep your fingers crossed for Little Louie because we want him to be fully wild.

Yesterday was my dads Birthday and Jo-Jo the crow came up to see us and wish daddy a happy birthday. Mummy's friend who looks after her told her to come up and visit and to wish daddy a happy birthday. Dad was so happy because Jo-Jo hasn't been up for a while. She is still Molting so still looks a bit scruffy but she has grown, she look really big now. She's such a beautiful bird.

Mummy has started cutting back the bushes in the garden now that the birds have stopped nesting and she's shifting furniture in the lounge so she can carry on stripping wallpaper and start painting and me well I have just been going out in the garden in between showers so that's all for now

It's a Funny time of year

Hello Blogville it's your one and only Gossip Bunny with all her latest ponderings and one of those ponderings is about keeping in touch with you all which has of late been rather sporadic at best! It's time to get busy and share more with you, to share more if the little things that wander through my little head even if it seems a little silly....

With that in mind I have decided that it's a funny time of year, what with funny weather consisting of storms, rain and on the odd day when it's nicer the mornings start off decidedly chilly when it should be a bit warmer and a bit nicer. The children are off school and there are plenty of Holiday makers around. Even lots from Europe seeking respite from their extremely hot weather when we would like a little bit of the warmth here. Can you believe it European Holiday makers are come here to see the rain? The mind boggles at that thought.

Mummy is off work this week with some of her vacation time so she will be busy decorating lounge on rubbish days and gardening on the dry days...The birds have finished nesting so it's time to trim all the bushes back. With all the rain everything has grown wild and huge along with the grass needs cutting again both that becomes a jungle again. With all the rain we have had mummy has only been able to cut it 3 or 4 times instead of every couple of weeks.

Little Louie is moaning about the chillier nights so only comes out to eat at night a few times and then tucks up in his bed till it warms up a bit later in the day and then snacks on and off through the day when he should be sleeping. Mummy doesn't want to put the heat pad in his hutch because he will be going in the green house when he gets a little bigger and his fur has grown back so it's better for him to stay used to the natural temperatures. Plus it's up and down with the temperatures and even with the chilly nights it's still not really cold enough to put the heat mat on so she keeps adding nesting material to his bed instead. He is growing but at the moment he's playing catch up to get to the weight he should have been when he was found so most of his energy is getting back to a healthy weight. But he is still Little.

And me well I just want to be able to get out in my garden and get out exploring on adventures hopefully this week I will get to do those things, Mummy said the weather should be a little better so keep your paws crossed for me cause I think I'm going to need a bit of luck from you all for that...

Where Has Miss Summer Gone? Part 2

Hello Blogville it's your one and only gossip bunny with all her latest adventures and wondering thoughts on where Miss Summer has gone. As I said yesterday May came and for the most part was lovely, then June came in very warm even hot at times.I would spend every day in the garden or going on some adventure depending on how hot each day was. And then July came wet, windy and wild with below average temperatures. It's now August and so for we have had very little change, we're due more wet, windy and wild weather over the weekend again and as for the long term I'm not going to hold my breath for any improvement. Miss Summer has abandoned us here and Miss Autumn has taken up residence in her place, I'm just waiting for the leaves to start dropping early now. Mum Said that Mr El nino is play games with us all and he's not playing nice!

So here are a couple of adventures I have had just from a couple of odd dry days....Starting with a little bit of fun and Shaugh Prior by the river

Then on another day we went to Badgersholt at Dartmeet

And lastly Tuesday we went to Buckfast Abbey where I was aloud in the Abbey Church in my stroller though mum didn't take any photos of me in there so not to draw attention to me and upset anyone we also had a spot of lunch at the restaurant too...

So that has been my July...Mu has even started decorating the lounge because the weather has been awful which she was going to start in the Autumn...Yep Miss Autumn has taken up residence here!
