Life without Speedy

Thank you all for you lovely comments, Messages, emails and ecards. I just wanted to thank you for them and to let you know that I am gradually replying to them, it may take a while between the tears and trying to keep busy so I don't keep crying.....I don't want to keep crying all the time.

Life without Speedy is sad and lonely. The House seems empty and has lost its spark. I can't bare to clean out Speedy's sleep den or his play are in the kitchen right now, I just miss him so much that I just can't do that final job.

Speedy was Buried in the garden he loves to play in, in front of the little apple tree that he tried to chew on. A fitting place for him I think.

As for his Blog well that will stay up, as will all his other social media. Will I continue to post....I don't know...Maybe after all we still have the Hedgehogs to keep you up to date with and of course Bird the Jackdaw whos still comes everyday to feed out of my hand and the mouse family that lives in the front garden who shares stuff with the hedgehogs...plus all the other birds that come to visit. We even had a new visitor today a young squirrel...never seen one before in my garden...though I am sure it has probably been before as it knew where the bird table in the tree was. The squirrel was a bit nervous so who knows if we will see it again, I hope so.

Will we get another bunny or another pet? I don't know...I do but Hubby is not sure we will see what the future holds....right now we are too sad, Maybe I'll get fed up with the sadness and put my foot down and make hubby let us have another pet...we will see. But for now I will leave you with the video of me feeding Bird the Jackdaw from a few weeks ago....

  10. I agree that the quietness in the house is unsettling. Even when sleeping, pets add an energy to the home that is dearly missed when they're gone. And putting away their things is difficult and can only be done when you're ready. We saved each cats' favorite toy and keep it safe. I hope you continue to share information about the hedgehogs and other critters in your garden. Purrs to you and your hubby.

  14. I completely understand the emptiness and sadness...too well.......my heart is breaking for you. Take all of the time you need. I STILL am not over losing Cody and Dakota and frankly, as their year anniversary rapidly approaches it has gotten worse. It's most of the reason I haven't blogged for nearly a month. The quiet is so hard. It took me awhile to put some of Dakota's things away...someone told me to wait a month, there is some theory that their soul will stay with you if you leave the items with you for a month untouched. Sending you much love and (((hugs))) always here for you....there will never, ever be another bunny like Speedy (((hugs))))

  22. Hi Rachel, I am so glad that you posted. I have been wondering how you are. And I do hope you will continue letting us know about Jack Daw and the Hedge Hogs, and you too!
I know there is a raw, Speedy sized hole in your heart, and I can tell you that all kinds of things will reopen that wound, but I can also tell you that life will get easier. The pain will become bearable - most of the time. I still see Nellie out of the corner of my eye and I know that she inhabits the house. She comes to me when I don't expect it and she tells me when she wants to speak on the blog. You may find that happens for you too. But take your time and know that I love you and support you and am here for you. Sending you virtual hugs and strength. Barb

  23. It really does hurt our hearts so much when our little furry ones leave us. So empty and quiet.
It took me ages to clean up Pipo's things, last fall...

    Sending you many tight hugs.

  26. We know you are sad about missing Speedy, but he had so much Life in him, and that was because you gave him so much to love about his life. You are special, and blessed with the ability to connect with animals. It would not serve Speedy's memory not to bring another bunny into your lives who would benefit from everything that made Speedy the best bunny we ever knew. Yes, take time to grieve. But when the pain warms to a soft glow, bless another amazing bunny out there with the gift of a home. We all know he won't be another Speedy, but that's okay, because that bunny will be himself, and just as awesome as Speedy was. Love and purrs, Herman and Dori, and mom Kim
