#GET TOUGH on Animal Fighting!

The ASPCA has teamed up with Dodo to raise awareness about dog fighting and helping the victims of this awful practice, but there is a limited window of time. The ASPCA is trying to get the U.S Sentencing Commission to raise the jail time for people who commit this horrible crime which is considered a felony in all 50 states. But the bad news is the current recommended jail sentences do not match the seriousness of the offence when convicted the offenders receive sentences as low as just 6 months in jail and nearly half of all offenders only get probation. In April the Commision will be updating their Sentencing guidelines and animal fighting is on the agenda so the ASPCA are asking the public to ask them to make the sentences for this crime higher. The Commission will be accepting public comments until March 21.You can add your say at www.aspca.org/GetTough  So to all My U.S friends please help and have your SAY!

  13. Good post Rachel....do not get me started on dog fighting!!! I go mental about this subject. I gave up being a Pittsburgh Steeler football fan when they hired Michael Vick the bloke who had a huge Pit Bull dog fighting operation some years ago. He was convicted & did prison time. Now he is back in the National Football league as if nothing happened. They call him Mike Vick so we will not recognize his name.....really???? We have never forgotten the images in the media of those poor dogs nor the fact that some had to be PTS they were so far gone.

The rest were saved & here is the link about the entire story!! Thank you for speaking out on behalf of fighting dogs....they deserve a better life than this.

  14. It's so sad that the punishment for animal cruelty is so small. I'm glad the ASPCA is trying to get a longer sentence for people who are involved with this horrible practice.

  15. Thank you for sharing this knowledge. A lot of pet owners are at a loss on how to stop dogs from fighting and most of them, end up being the one getting the worse end of the fight. Even though we, as pet parents, you may have your dog’s best interests in mind, they may not be able to stop themselves from engaging in a fight if they are not properly trained and when presented with enough triggers to set off an aggression.
