Today's Selfie is a comparison of Speedy ,as you know we have had a battle to get Speedy to trim down as before he had his eye removed(due to glaucoma complications)Speedy had put on a lot of weight at his heaviest he was 4.125kg
Then through a lot of hard work I got him down to 3.25kg but his dad was sneeking extra treats when I wasn't around and he went up to 3.86kg
Then in september he had a bad reaction to a antibiotic injection and was quite poorly and wouldn't eat on his own and went off all his favourite foods and we had a battle to get him eating again this took a couple of months and in the end it wasn't until we came back from our holiday that he was completely back to his normal self and back to mugging me for food.
This is the latest Photo of Speedy and as you can see he has trimmed down a lot! Those of you who know me on FaceBook will know that Friday I had an accident with Speedy I was taking down some of the decorations in the kitchen and Speedy shot under the little stepladder I was using and right underneath my foot as I was stepping down luckily I felt him under my foot and didn't put my full weight on him,he wriggled out from under my foot and ran off,I was mortified but gave him a good checking over and he seemed none the worse for this accident so I just kept an eye on him.Saturday morning however was a different story Speedy kept whimpering when we picked him up so off the vets he went, good news is nothing is broken and he is just a bit bruised and has a bit of swelling so its rest and painkiller for a few days till it goes away, another bit of good news is he had to be weighed to get the dosage right for his painkiller and Speedy is now 3.06kg.the vet said this was very good news but we need to make sure he doesn't put any more weight on and could do with getting under the 3kg closer to 2.5kg so the diet continues and I have had to hide the treats from his dad and I have to make sure that he doesn't get too many bits of carrot and fruit cause of the sugar, and his pellets have been reduced a bit more too! With the walks out on his leash we are winning the weight battle!Yippee!

I'm glad to hear Speedy didn't get too squashed when you almost stepped on him. We don't wear shoes in the house, which has benefited Raven because she gets underfoot and has gotten a foot to the side once or twice.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy likes going outside and getting exercise so hopefully the weightloss will continue until he's at his perfect weight. Hiding the treats from his dad is probably the harder part! I wish Raven enjoyed going outside on her harness because she needs to lose about .5 kg and the exercise would do her good.
While I can understand the treat-sneaking, CUT IT OUT, DAD! Glad everything is OK now.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy, you keep up the good work on that Diet, we need a slim, fast Pirate Cap-n for our Adventures later on.
ReplyDeleteThe Mad Scots
Keep getting well, Speedy bunny! We are all thinking of you! :-) <3 xxx
ReplyDeletePoor speedy - I understand your problem with weight and diets pal. I've been on a diet for a whole year and have lost 1 whole pound. i still have 1 pound to go. Hang in there pal, you will be more active when you do trim down.
ReplyDeleteGoodness Speedy you've been through a lot! We're so sorry we didn't know about you losing your eye, but it looks like you get around just fine (tripping your poor mom). Glad you are okay after the accident and your mom didn't hurt herself either (that's what mine does). I am on a diet too, I weighed 18lbs when I moved in with Dolly, I don't go for walks (d'oh) but sometimes I hear "Dolly chase the cat" so I run for the back, that's about it. Take care loved your selfies. Love Rhette
ReplyDeleteShould one bunny have so many ups and downs?!? Thank goodness all is currently well and, yes, I can see a huge (no pun intended) difference in weight. Keep up the good weight work and no more owies!
ReplyDeleteOh Speedy.... You've gotta watch out for the peeps' feet, my friend. Sometimes they just don't know WHERE they're puttin' them. Hope you feel better, very soon.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
NIssy
That is excellent Speedy! I do think your latest photo looks much better with your weight in mind. Tell your pawrents to keep up the good work! I always worry about squishing the little furries, glad that Speedy wasn't hurt too badly.

I"m so sorry about what happened with Speedy but very glad to hear nothing too serious happened. I know it must have been so hard on Speedy's mum. That is amazing about his weight loss. Great job to both of you!
ReplyDeleteUnderfoot is my favorite place to be, so I get it, Speedy. You're much tinier than I am, so it's way more dangerous for you. Your mom and dad will take good care of you as you recover. Thank goodness nothing is broken. Hang in there, buddy.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
Oh thank goodness you and Speedy are OK! Poor little man....hurting so! But this is excellent news about his diet; I had noticed in one of your Christmas photos of Santa Speedy that he had been trimmer than usual! YAHHOOOOO SPEEDY! Tell us son, what is your secret! HAHAHAHAHHA
ReplyDeleteMuch love to you all, Auntie Anita

ReplyDeleteGlad you are okay Speedy and just a bit bruised. Scary for you and mum. You are looking good with your weight loss.
ReplyDeleteI wondered which antibiotic Speedy had a bad reaction to. It was within 24 hours of having the 14 day injection Convenia that Flynn first became so ill about 3 months ago.

Ah the benefits of a nice walk! Even for bunnies. Well done team Speedy!
ReplyDeleteOh Speedy you have the exact problem like my mom. All the weight talk. Not funny, but necessary.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wheek! Whee are glad to hear you are ok. Give your Mum and snuggle from us!

We are so glad it's just a bruise. We didn't know bunnies had to go on diets, too. Good job with the weigh in, Speedy!

I am glad he is ok though! Pets love to run under our feet don't they?!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I remember well how much of a challenge it can be keeping a bunny at a steady weight! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Speedy is ok! My kitty is all white and sometimes he sleeps on all white blankets--when my brother visits, he never fails to accidentally sit on him and I always worry about Soth getting hurt. I'm glad to hear the diet is going well--I know how hard it is to keep weight off the pets when they are always fussing for food!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Speedy is OK - what a beautiful boy he is with his chocolate nose! I'm battling with Harvey the dog at the mo with his weight issues - replacing all treats, with veggies - he hasn't noticed the difference...yet ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yikes! Glad he didn't have any broken bones! That's good he is trimmed down nicely. I never really thought about rabbits gaining weight. They eat all the healthy stuff - but I guess they are susceptible to weight gain too! He looks really great!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Speedy is doing a lot better. Pretty soon you'll have him down to where he should be. I'm glad he wasn't hurt too much from the ladder incident. I hate when stuff like that happens and we hurt our pets. All the best to you all in the new year! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSorry it has taken us so long to get by to visit. We hope Speedy is on the mend. Mom says she wishes Dad would quit sneaky her treats 'cause she really needs to trim down as does Giulietta. Get well soon, dear furiend, and please forgive our absence. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteSpeedy, your Mom and you must have been really scared. I am happy to read that you just have bruises. You have to be careful, human can be really clumsy !
ReplyDeleteThat's funny... my "Papy" seems to be like your Daddy....
