My poor baby boy Speedy!

Today Speedy woke up and wasn't him self his left eye was sore and yucky and looking like it had an infection in the eye,Yesterday Speedy seemed alright but this morning it was a different thing so It was another trip to the vet.How ever the last time I took Speedy to the vet I was unhappy about our treatment and was left with a bad taste in my mouth after feeling like I was being riped off so I decide to change vets and I reverted to my old vets the one I used with my first bunny Caramel.
I am so glad I did I got an appointment with the eye specialist and I have to say He was brilliant, after a thorough examination of Speedy's eye he found that Speedy has an ulcerated eye which could only be seen after a special dye was put on the eye and a ultra violet light shone on the eye and there it was the ulcer. So we have a special gel to put in it heal it all up,its going to take about week. Not sure how it has happened some how Speedy has knocked or rubbed his eye causing the ulcer. We have also upped is painkiller as it is very sore.
On the plus side Speedy still wants to play out side but is feeling a bit sorry for him self.My poor baby boy!

  2. Oh, Rachel, how unnerving. I just hope I would have the strength to carry on and get Speedy the help he needed. It must have been completely scary all the way. I wish I could give you both big hugs, make you tea, serve cookies, have you put your feet up in a big comfy chair with Speedy in your lap, and read you stories. We love you and we are always here.

    1. Dang it, Rach, you CANNOT start a post like that. I had my heart in my throat til I could read the rest of it. For a good twenty seconds, I thought something happened to him, and I honestly do not think I could handle that.
Thank God for good vets and pain meds. St.s Francis and Melangell be with my little floofy nephew.
I am nursing some gooey poo and gas in my Meany Girl. I will not sleep til she is pooping proper. She is about to get a syringe of Critical Care and pellet mush. I cannot believe I ran out of pumpkin puree. I ALWAYS keep canned pumpkin on hand!!!
Give The Cheeky One a treat and extra ear kisses for me!

    2. Dude? Dude? Mum will do what? What is the legal drinking age for UK bunns? Speedy, it had better be 150, because that is how old you and Jensen will be before you even get a sniff, if your Auntie Jane has anything to say about it? You better have a slow, gentle, thorough recovery so this whole incident slips through your Auntie Jane's mind. Otherwise, there could be some time outs for a certain cheeky bun, yes, sitting in the corner of a magic closet.

    3. Auntie Jane in human terms I was 21 on my first birthday and I will be 27 in october for my second Birthday so right now that would make me around 25,and Jensen is 18 or more,18 is the legal age in the UK and mum will see we don't indulge to much so don't worry us Dude's are just going to relax with fine food and a couple of drinks,xx Speedy

  10. Oh speedy!!! Maddy wasn't feeling herself a couple days ago also. I had to give her some simethicone, belly rubs, and some pineapple juice. I was so nervous for her as her poops were small, hard, and very few...and she wasn't eating! It was a very scary couple hours..luckily it worked and the diva is back to normal..I'm still keeping a close eye on her. I'm sorry about your eye speedy, but you're in good hands! I think I saw Maddy run off somewhere with my nurses cap..something about a closet...idk what she's up to. Speedy recovery for our speedy boy! Love ya all!

  14. Poor Speedy! Perhaps he bumped into something during one of his rounds? Or could a piece of hay poked his eye?
One of our guinea pigs, Pok, had the same thing from a piece of hay that got lodged in his eye. He made a full recovery after some eye drops. :)
    Feel better soon, Speedy! xoxo

  19. Poor Speedy Bunnyfeets! (Snuzzles) Probably stuck himself in the eye with a piece of hay, that's a common one. Of course, he's an uncommon bunny, so maybe a coat hanger fell on him when he was sneaking out of the bunny portal..

Glad to hear he's gotten treatment and is still his happy self tho!

  29. Hi, Rachel, I hope everyone at your place is doing really well. I have just got to hear that Speedy and Maddy and Meany are doing better. I hope Speedy hasn't had too much company. Mr. Mick may want to move in until his house guests are gone. I just can't believe that Jade and Bunny Hugging Volunteer at Big Ears, Tiny Tales get to hang out with little bunnies. It is so kind of them to share pictures. I don't think you should be worrying about this now, but how is the other camera? Just a little news...we woke up with no power (just heard a distant bang), it is raining, and we watched a bunny munching for a very long time on our way back from checking the fuse box. Is living not a mixed bag? Your family are certainly a wonderful part of that for us. Now, tell that Little Nephew of mine to get really well. Love, Auntie Jane

  30. I'll take a little bit better every day, but, Rachel, you have explained to him that we really need our Speedy to be at 100%? And, please don't forget the really important part about how much we love him and how sorry we are they he feels this way and is going through all this. Just tell him we love him, and Rachel, please tell him that I hope he didn't hurt his eye when he fainted at the suggestion that his beautiful socks should be covered with some I knitted.
