Aww... they're all so sweet! Thumper lived a long time for a bunny eh? My former bunny Blackwell only lived 5 years and it's so hard - you want them to be around longer than that!!
ReplyDeleteI guess that we have been blessed as Caramel was just over 6 and Thumper nearly 8 and a half, lets hope Speedy is around a long time. And they all have their own characters, time to tell the stories of the other two I think.
DeleteIf a bunny is well taken care of and is a house-rabbit, they should live up to ten years, even more. Five is about the age I notice a lot of rabbits passing away, though. I guess it must be genetics. Like people, some bunnies just live longer than others.
ReplyDeleteCaramel was very sick as a baby before he came home to me the lady only let me have because he was to be a house bunny,he use'd to get bladder infection 2 to 3 times a year because of the illness as a baby but he was easy to treat then he start having fits which we treated until the drugs stopped working and he had a big fit and then we had to make that call,Thumper was exposed to E.C and had a lot of ups and downs for the last 2 years but both buns had the best care and love that we could give and we became attuned to their needs that as soon as they were off colour it was a trip to the vets.I guess we have been a bit unlucky with health issues as we have Speedy and he has gluacoma but I try to think we are supossed to have had these buns so that they have the best life possible and I wouldn't have it any other way even if it costs me a fortune
DeleteLove your bunny stories brandi. I sympathise with making 'the call.' my lovely English Spot bun Kissyfur developed epileptic type fits. It got to the stage where it was more and more each day. She would put her nose in the air to gasp for breath after. She recovered ok afterwards but the vet said each one was doing something toxic to her system. I'd never had to have an animal put to sleep before. Broke my heart. Goodness me I' m crying as I write this now and it was 8 years ago!
Deleteyeah it nearly killed me as he was such fighter even at the end
Deletethank you for following Speedy
DeleteWhat a fine group of little buns! Thank you for loving them and giving us a chance to love them, too. I had no idea Speedy was such a little tot.
ReplyDeleteNot so little any more he's the biggest of the bunch and you know when he's in your arm's and he's on a low calorie diet with lots of exercise as I don't want him getting fat.Hmm may be its time to tell some stories about Caramel and Thumper too
DeleteAll such lookers too! Have a wonderful weekend Speedy!
ReplyDeleteJust like you a your fur family.have a great week end too!
DeleteSo beautiful babies!!!!! =))))
ReplyDeletejust like your babies too!!
DeleteI fear my babies will not live much past five years. My Jersey Wooly boy came from a bad environment and I am glad he came to me at about five weeks, even though that is a big young. He has facial and slight body deformities on his left side which my vet says was possibly due to his embryonic sac not being cleaned off properly, then hardening on that side of his body. But he is such a funny little fat ham!
ReplyDeletebut I'm sure he'll have the best life that you can give him,if it was a normal family who had him well he would be stuck in a hutch in the garden with no quality of life and would pass very early from neglect, but he has you! a very lucky bun!
Delete3 very good looking bunnies! Have a wonderful weekend, Speedy!
