Speedys war wounds

This was taken before we when to the vets
Speedy was out side having fun when some body's cat came into the garden and attacked him.Speedy managed to get away under the car but ended up with bite on his right leg of the photos only show the out side of his leg but its the same on the inside of the leg,2 big gaping holes which we found out when we rushed him to the vets,He has to go back tomorrow to have stitched up as he needs to be a sleep to have this done so we have a special gel to keep it clean and moist and he had some antibiotics and a shot for pain relief. So today we have started to put up wire fencing along the top of the walls and wood fencing so that misbehaving cats can't jump or climb over to make it safe for Speedy again.I like cats but not rude misbehaving ones, they can stay out!
I will update tomorrow after he has been back to the vets.

    1. Unfortunately I never saw the cat but it couldn't have been any thing else as the garden is safe for Speedy as there is know sharp things to cut him self on and the cat population is increasing as every body has cats and new people move here and they have cats and its these cats that have been comming in the garden lately, but right now I'm very angry as I will go into more detail tomorrow,But Speedy is home now

  7. Oh Speedy I am SO angry! It is SUCH a good thing I am not across the pond there because I would set my lab on that little evil foul-breathed bastard cat. Simon HATES cats, but likes bunnies. He would make that cat wish it was never born!!!!
HOW DARE that thing attack our Speedy! Do you know who the owner is? You slap that irresponsible butthead owner with the vet bill!!!!
Poor sweet Speedy! My poor baby Speedy! In your own yard!

    1. If I knew for certain which cat did the deed,I still would be able to give the owners the bill and in the UK cats are classed as feral and and can go and do as they please and the owners aren't responsible for the cats actions

    1. In the uk its rabies free here so I don't have to worry about that, and it probably was some ones cat as most houses where I live have 2 or 3 or more cats.but Speedy is home with lots of medication so that should control and infection

  15. Poor Speedy! I bet that was terrifying for him! Give him some kisses from me and my bunnies! Outside can be a dangerous place for bunnies, but they love it so!

  16. Well, I am much calmed down, but I tell you, SpeedyMum, I was seeing red when I saw those puncture marks! I was just having a conversation over at Zantippy's blog about the instincts of cats. I have a theory that cats that are allowed to roam outside, even though they are also housecats, end up with those killer instincts going haywire. They can't help it. ABout all that can be done is to keep them strictly housecats. I just do not think it is fair that dogs, who are mostly very sweet, have to obey leash laws, but cats can do as they please. And doing as they please has an impact on the environment! They stalk small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds! Don't these creatures have enough to worry about as it is without someone's pet cat going all jungle cat in the neighborhood?
Really, you can't blame the cat (although if I caught one hurting my bunny loves I would chop it into dogfood without a second thought, but I would do that to any animal that hurt my bunnies)for being a cat, but you can sure as heck blame cat owners!!

    1. Had I caught the cat I'm not sure how I would have reacted probably the same as you.I'm still very angry about it all but I shall make the garden into fort knox.but may be it will also make a safe have for all the little birds too

  17. Hey, Speedy! How's that leg doing? Is it getting better? I hope so. I'm sending you some nose rubs, OK? Mom is too. Feel better quickly so you are set for the hurdle races.

  18. Oh, no!!! How awful. And frightening. Glad you were able to fix it so he has a safe place to play outside now. I have to sit out with our buns due to hawks and owls and the occasional straying pet. Inside, I don't even trust my own cats to be alone with the buns.

  19. Haven't quite yet fixed it but it will be
